I laughed my ass off. Those little buggers fall off trees, power lines and houses all the time and bounce right back up.
Well I know different. Squirrels fall and get hurt. It happens all the time. Especially during mating season when they chase each other 100mph up, down across branches and around the trees. About 15 years ago I was in our backyard (up north) early in the morning. Our yard had a stockade privacy fence to the next, but at the end of the fence you could walk around into your neighbor's yard. I hear this rustle, crash, bang, boom and so did our cat, who ran from our yard around the fence to the next to check it out. I followed. Looked around and then I spotted it - a squirrel, lying on its side in a fetal position in a ditch. He fell from a VERY tall tree, bounced off the neighbors roof, onto their domed BBQ grill (that was dented) and onto the ground. Maybe he missed the roof, but he definitely hit the grill. I ran into the house for a towel & carrier. Threw the towel over him and put him in the carrier. I'll never forget what happened next. He came alive and threw himself against the cage door with his front paws grabbing at the grates, his face in a shriek, mouth open, nothing coming out, eyes wild. I called a rehabber who came for him. He had a back injury and had to be put down.
Anyway, where the hell did this squirrel land? It's possible he got killed in this stunt, or injured. I don't find flinging innocent animals like sling shots funny.
