I just saw *that movie* again tonight,I think that makes time #12. Hadn't seen it in like 3 years . Better on the big screen though, wish it would be rereleased at some art theater or something. I miss hearing the p-ting of the propellor guy,its more of a thud on the tv.I saw it twice on the big screen.

Anyone else on here ever been/still are a Titanic maniac or even worst- the terrible Rivet Counter! I was a rivet counter once he he he icon_redface.gif

I am talking the historical part, not the Leo part LOL.

whats a rivet counter?

i always loved a night to remember
the old version

my hero was the guy in the dress

if women want equal rights then it should only be children first

then men and women

i have gotten into arguments with feminists over this and showed them they were sexist as they still wanted special privileges
Vulpes-Latrans
A rivet counter is someone who is totally hung up on the smallest details and nitpicks about things alot. There are a bunch of errors made by Cameron, despite his having 2 ( i think it was 2) full Titanic historians on the set.

I was dragged to see Titanic twice in the theater. My ex thought it was the best movie in the world. icon_rolleyes.gif We went with a bunch of my friends and their SO's.. so we had a good mix of guys and gals. The first screening we kinda behaved.. me and the guys made our usual sarcastic comments and cheered when they steamed up the car windows and when she got almost naked. Got a lot of dirty looks from the chicks and the ex (Dang.. he was so girly!). The end when the boat sinks is pretty good, we liked that part.

The second showing we made sarcastic comments, cheered when they steamed up the car windows and when she got almost naked.. and did the wave when the ship went down.. the chicks and the ex decided to sit in a different row than us.. wonder why? icon_lmao.gif

But Cal was so creepy! Zane does well in the Phantom though.

I liked the movie ALOT,but more for the historical stuff.I thought the Jack and Rose thing were kinda stupid, but I warmed to it. Leo is annoying, yes he is. Old Rose is cool though.

The sinking scenes are magnificent. I like when the grand staircase dome implodes and the scenes that have all the creeping or rushing water through the hallways. The scenes with the massive reciprocating engines are cool too, just because those engines are so huge.Oh yeah I like the iceberg scene.

And notice the coolnesss at the end- check the time on the clock! Ohh that gets me!

Its kind of weird.I was totally obsessed with that ship and it just dropped like the ship sank to the bottom when I started trapping back in 2000.Recently I was poking around at my massive Titanic book collection and the spark came back.

Theres a saying that once she( the Titanic) gets ya,she never lets go.

If anyone wants to try me on some Titanic trivia,go ahead. Do some hard ones.

What artifact from the titanic was mistaken for a human skull the first time the researchers saw it?

But you all know that ninety years in saltwater corrodes bone...

The dolls head, cmon try something harder!

What about those eerie pics of the boots lying side by side? In fact they found a bunch like that down there.

Hey I have 2 of those little coal peices the salvage co was selling. I also went to one of those traveling exibits with the artifacts and touched a lifeboat davit. It was not cordoned off,you could go right up and touch it. I also saw the "big piece" there. But the show I went to did not have the repro grand starcase,I was pissed! Oh LOL I wore this shirt that says "the boat sank, get over it" and had some people chuckling over it.

heres some other cool things I have collected:

a prop from the movie- a lifebelt
a real front page paper from april 16 1912- Ohio State Journal

3 sheet musics, genuine period

a white star line fork- genuine

a 5 x 8 foot movie promotional banner ( rivet design title on side of ship one)

a model you can sink

a snow globe

oodles of videos, including all Titanic movies but the nazi one

a huge bunch of books, including childrens books and a TITANIC COLORING BOOK icon_stiffdrink.gif

Walter Lords' autograph- not a great one though,it was when he was ailing

Movie posters- all from James Cameron movie, except 1 that was an indy film called "Chambermaid on the Titanic"

How much money would a person have if they were to get paid one dollar for every time HBO has aired the movie ?

One thing's for sure, it probably isn't as bad as say when Nickelodeon tries to re-air reruns of YCDTOTV, they have to not only pay the many actors who played adults, but over 100 other former kids who were on that show too.

I was probably the only 12-year old girl in 1997 who saw that movie once in the theater. Thought it was pretty good, but about an hour in I had to pee really bad, but the theater stupidly sold more tickets than there were seats, so I didn't want to give it up. I was sooo happy when the guy (I think his name was Jack) got her on the lifeboat. But of course, she jumped back on (the fool) and I had to suffer for an additional hour of an agonizingly full bladder. icon_eek.gif ranting.gif

I cried when the old lady dropped the jewel in the water. Man, what a lot of money down the drain. icon_bawling.gif

I cheered for the iceberg. Great effects; sucky movie. Went to see it at my sisters. We fast-forwarded till we got to the iceberg scoring.
