Daughter in law dropped the grand baby off for us to keep tonight. Right away I noticed his left thumb looked wrong. I looked it over and called his parents to turn around and come back to my house. His thumb is locked in a bent position. I tried to straighten it and it is stuck partially bent. I looked on the net and it is TRIGGER THUMB. The tendons get " stuck" and it is a simple procedure to fix it. The daughter in law called her doc and was told to take him to the hospital for X rays. I had a delivery to make so I was being kept updated via texts.

I told Angie and Julie to make sure they told the doc to check it for trigger thumb and they did. The doc took xrays and said he couldn't see anything wrong so he determined it was just dislocated. At this point Angie called me to tell me the doc was gonna numb his thumb and pop it back into place. I told her he was an idiot and was gonna break the htumb trying to force it, or worse tear the tendons......The thumb was NOT dislocated because no swelling or discoloration or disfiguring...no soreness and it was LOCKED , he could bend it more but not straighten it out. SOOO the doc numbs the thumb and tries to pu it back in place with no luck. THEN he decides to call an orthopedist and guess what? TRIGGER THUMB. I fucking hate stupid people.

Unbelievable!! I never heard of that before. Stupid dr. he could have done some damage. Luckily all turned out ok.

he is at the doc now determining when and if they will do surgery.

looks like surgery is a go but his doc won't do it. Says he does em all the time but only once on a toddler . he wants a more experienced doc to do it.
