Ok got a stone ruination clone recipe.. looks easy enough to do so I will give it a whirl. I have MOST of what I need already.

Gah, I can't seem to type anything after a quote?

Anyway, I just had to grin while reading this. We had a few of those brewing days too and it amazed me every time we ended up with a decent beer!

The husband has brewed another "weed"beer, should be ready in about 5 weeks, first one tasted quite good so we are looking forward to thise one.
I've been looking for an easy cider recipe since I had some leftover apple concentrate. A friend managed to give me very simple one, can't wait to try it out soon, we need another carboy first though, we only have 2 and the husband needs those for the beer.

And since we had a minor accident with our car (our bumper and headlight on someone else's tow hook) we are a bit short on cash now, tsch.

I just brewed today.. was a complete disaster. Started off with the drill to run the grain mill being dead so we had to keep swapping out batteries until we got all of it ground......Then I found that I bought the wrong hops for my recipe......Then after the mash I was putting the beer into my brew kettle and it started running out on the ground. My sight glass ( gives you the volume level in your pot) had broken, got that fixed but now I have NO idea what the volume is......THEN I got everything going well, the beer started boiling , I dropped in my first hop addition and POOF... OUT OF GAS!!! My wife grabbed a big pot that I just picked up and we transferred the beer into that...wrapped the pot in aluminum foil ( to hold heat in better) and finished the beer on the stove.... So it turned out. I have 5+- gallons of porter in the fermentor.. gonna add vanilla beans in secondary, then makers mark bourbon at bottling time. got 20+ gallons of beer in fermentors right now.

Almost forgot to mention we went to the beershop again the other day to buy some yummy beers, my favourites are Jever (very hoppy) and Liefmans kriek at the moment. Also looked for another porter to try, can't remember which one I picked up this time but I do remember I tried a coffee porter from Meantime (I think?) the other day and that one was very nice.

SIMPLE cider recipe.. 5 gallons of apple juice ( no sorbates of course) 2 pounds of corn sugar and a packet of montrachet yeast.. easy peasy..... I got SOOOOO lucky on carboys. I bought a couple.. found 3 used ones for 20 bucks each and my mom bought em for me for Christmas... THEN I was on Craigslist and saw a guy selling large glass bottles.. I looked and they are 7 gallon carboys!! I bought 12 of them for FORTY BUCKS! Sold half of them for my cost to a buddy.. then bought 6 more. I have a TON of carboys. If you lived close I'd give you a couple!
BTW what is weed beer?
OH YEAH, Go to the store and buy a big bucket , make sure it is food grade.. I use em for beer somethimes and they work fine.

try a taddy ( not sure of the spelling but it sounds like that) porter. So far my favorites are my robust porter and my dogfish head ....and .. and ... and... lol. I like em all.

Yeah, it's Samuel Smith's Taddy (Tadcaster) Porter... if that's the one you're talking about. The Samuel Smith's oatmeal and imperial stouts are excellent, too. And if you ever see the Winter Welcome lager (seasonal) buy one. It's expensive but it's definetly worth it.

Mashing grains right now. doing a vert vert light ale for my friends who cant drink real beer lol.

Quoting is still off, I blame my browser.

Anyway, this is the cider recipe I got: http://makinghomemadewineandbeer.blogspot....der-recipe.html

The friend who gave me that link also told me the following: "and apple jack comes from freezing hard cider, pouring off n saving the liquid while discarding the ice. aka 'jacking' or 'ice distillation'"
Which sounds familiar to what you mentioned on the previous page.

We already use food grade buckets by the way, for the mash and first fermentation. I think we only spent about 300 euros to get us started on brewing. A carboy, 5 gallon, costs about 15 euros here.

There are still so many beers to taste (and brew), I even collected a whole series of beer/bottles by Flying Dog, not my favourite beer though. My favourites were always belgian or german but lately I am starting to appreciate some english ones too like old speckled hen. I also bought a rather expensive bottle of Thomas Hardy Ale (strongest ale around), haven't tried that one yet, it has been sitting in our (beer)fridge for a while now, mocking me.

And the weed I was referring to is the smoking kind icon_wink.gif

oh, just remembered another thing, the beershop owner told us about his favourite non alcoholic beer. Apparantly Bitburger make a great one, they just make their normal beer but somehow (no idea how) they take the alcohol out so you still get the beer flavour as it should be, not too sweet.

I think real applejack has raisins in it. I use em in some wines to add some body... weed beer huh. Bet thats a hit lol! Just put in my first sparge ( I double to get better efficiency) and should start the boil in about 15 more minutes.
OHIOSTEVE
beer is in the fermentor and everything is 90% cleaned up. I named this one VAGINALE for my friends who think my other beers are too strong lol.
OHIOSTEVE
tried to make a gallon of my oatmeal stout a N/A beer last night. complete clusterfuck. Only ended up with a 6 pack and I think it will NOT carb up and WILL taste like ass...and not in a good way.
OHIOSTEVE
getting ready to bottle a light ale and move a vanilla bourbon porter to cold crash.
OHIOSTEVE
everything brewed is now bottled. I went overboard on the vanilla in the vanilla bourbon porter BUT the general consesus is that the vanilla taste fades with aging so I am probably good to go. I pitted and sliced 20 pounds of peaches and started a peach wine, and I put 36 pounds of asian pear mush into a fermentor to make some asian pear wine. Those things are tiny.. took me forever to get 36 pounds after coring them.
