When I was 18 I worked with a woman who had a sable Burmese. (cat) They are a very dark, shiny brown. I've wanted one ever since. It's finally going to happen. She was born Jan.3rd and I'll get her in early April. Most of my family thinks I've lost my mind paying that price for a cat. But my husband and children (all grown now) are being supportive. Besides, the neurologist hasn't actually SAID I'm crazy. The verdict is still out. I don't care either way. I just can't wait for Electra to get here.

Nothing like allowing a cat into your home to take over.
I heartily approve.

Grace
So you're probably paying $600 or $700. I never understood that when there are SO many cute kittens out there. If you have the money to blow, however, go for it. Pictures please when Electra comes home.
RF
I couldn't understand paying that much for a cat either. Course, I couldn't understand if they were asking a nickel a dozen.
Grace
ROFL. You're so full of it.

I'll resist posting that pic of the "Free cat"

Still makes me chuckle though.

Me too.

My daughter has this long haired cat that has a pushed in face that makes it look like it's eternally pissed off. It was an expensive cat and that pisses me off because there's two of them here that she could have had and they started out as her cats anyway.

To be fair, she offered to take them back but her Mom said, "Oh no, they wouldn't like being uprooted at this point in their lives."

What? Like, who gives a shit whether cats would be angry or inconvenienced or whatever the fuck horrible trauma a simple move would introduce into their lives.

But somefuckinghow I was outvoted.

IMO, those are some ugly ass cats.

If only being uprooted like that proved consistently fatal. You and I, occupying this continent, wouldn't be plauged with houscats.

Though your infestation seems more pronounced than mine.

Throughout my life we've had 3 cats from shelters. 2 died of old age, and 1 was killed by a dog. There were only 2 or 3 breeders of Burmese here in the states that I could find on the internet. I've been looking almost 2 years for this particular color Burmese. I DON'T "have the money to blow", and don't consider it as such anyway. I've wanted one of these cats since I was 18, and there are other, more personal reasons involved. 'Nuff said.

If you like ugly cats, that's your prerogative. You can buy a hundred of them, hitch them all to a radio flyer and much them through the streets of your town pulling you behind. I, frankly, don't care. She might not be ugly enough for your taste, but I'll happily ship you my wife's cat if you need some extra muscle. icon_tongue.gif

Well, you must not be talking about Electra because brown Burmese are some of the most beautiful cats there are.
I'm just gonna assume you're talking about the Persian, or whatever "long haired, pushed in face" cat it was that RF mentioned.
Grace
These guys don't know breeds of cats from the hole in their duppa.
RF
Bullshit. I knew that the type of cat Comfy was talking about wasn't the type my daughter has. I was just telling a cat story cause cats seemed to be topic.

Ok ok ok. I take it back. yeesh.

Congrats, Comfy. While I'm not fond of cats, the Burmese are beautiful and tend to have good personalities.
