I wonder how he prevents Pete from getting shot on this canned hunt preserve?

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/05/us/05moose.html?_r=1Because it's an elk shooting preserve and Pete is a moose?

ROFL. Well shit, people shoot people mistaking them for turkeys.

Some people are easily mistaken that way.

Having a pet moose on an elk hunting range sounds dangerous. Unless this area is where they're raised and once fattened up they are corralled through the gates to hell. (the fenced hunting area).

I'm guessing the area that the moose is in is separated from the hunting range. I doubt they let little kids run free hand feeding and patting the elk while people shoot at them, and that is what seems to be happening in the photo with the moose. I mean, the bit about the kids running free and hand feeding the moose. It would seem a little dumb to let a tame, human friendly pet moose run free on a hunting range. The sort of hunters that need these canned hunts aren't really the cream of the crop when it comes to wilderness knowledge, I'd guess.
