this service will shut down a city. Quite a feat for a "mediocre geek". Last time they used this much security (police) in the city is when the pope was there. Now there's a mediocre geek.

"He set the bar, and broke it."

"He took off into the stratosphere, and stayed there."

"He wasn’t the King of Pop, he was the greatest entertainer on earth."

So who is the medicre geek who shut down the city? Couldn't be MJ. He's deader than a doorknob and by definition isn't shutting down anything.
SiberD
I thought the absense of an approved state budget is what shut down LA?

Question: If they had him stuffed and wired up with servos and solenoids; how many people would he attract to Disney World as an interactive, animatronic feature? Think of it. Wouldn't it be cool? You could push a button and make him moonwalk.

I don't know man, might be kinda scary for the little ones having to look at that.....

CNN) -- No major security problems were reported at Michael Jackson's public memorial service on Tuesday in Los Angeles, California, according to police.

Police gather Tuesday morning in Los Angeles for Michael Jackson's public memorial.

The only controversy concerned the issue of who ultimately would pay for the city's efforts to heighten security as thousands of people from around the world flooded the city to say farewell to the pop icon, who died of unknown causes on June 25.

A budget crisis pushed the city to ask the public for help in paying for security at the memorial. It set up a Web site where fans can donate. The city is hoping to recoup some of the estimated $2 million to $4 million it cost to have thousands of police and firefighters on hand in case of an emergency.

Matt Szabo, spokesman for Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, said providing security at the event was the city's "obligation" and its "No. 1 priority."

But the city does need help, he said.

"Nothing could tarnish this event more than having a public safety disturbance of any kind," he said. "We're working to make sure that doesn't happen. And we're asking Michael Jackson fans to help contribute." Visit the donation Web site

How about it Grace..... you gonna help a broke city out? Tell you what....California's budget crisis is real with their bonding status just above junk bonds now. The state is issuing "IOU's" to state vendors and individuals instead of checks. What happens out there is going to be a window to other state's futures and IMHO a hell of a lot more important than fuckin' MJ.
Grace
I hate you!!! Show some fucking respect. Only my husband gets an MJ Bash Pass and it ain't FREE.

I can live with that.

Hey I think the push a button and make MJ moonwalk thing would be a helluva tribute. He could keep on being the greatest entertainer in the world for eternity. (or at least the greatest entertainer this side of an Arkansas state fair).

My other idea is push a button and make Grace emulate a Nike missile...

Hmmm....obviously there were some spare parts left over.

Okay, I got it. Take the extra parts which are probably just sitting around in a freezer in Neverland anyway, and assemble a whole troop of MJ's. A chorus line of Michael Jacksons even, in chronological sequence from not-so-scary on the left to nightmare on the right. All doing a choreographed moonwalk at the touch of a button.

Hey now, that might just work! People could be entertained until they reached a point in the MJ's transformation turned their stomachs! Of course some people would just want to go the end of the line to see the freak show bypassing the normalcy of appearance in the early years but hey, their choice!

Patent that idea!

Well yeah, but most of them are in LA today anyway.

Federal stimulus funding could provide the county with as much as $441.7 million through Dec. 2010 for Medicaid, foster care and adoption payments, roughly half of which would be received in the 2009-2010 fiscal year

They'll be fine with a little help from Obama. Besides, it's their JOB to up security when the need rises. What if Obama was visiting would they be whaaa whaaing for reimbursement? Don't think so. They're seizing an opportunity while taking advantage of heartbroken friends, family and fans.

And by the way, I find none of your MJ bashing funny. It's over the top disrespectful to him and to ME. My sorrow and sadness over his death is genuine. Your making fun of someone's passing and my grief is hitting below my belt. Actually, no, it's hitting above my belt. My heart.

Yes, I mean it in the collective sense. All 2 of you.

Wha? Frankie gets a pass for the "just another dead pedophile" comment?

Oh thanks for bringing that to my attention. I overlooked it. The 3 of you.

Well, no dead MJ no zeitgeist. He is the root cause, at least his corpse is.

Recently, he seems to be far more polular dead than alive. Take that statement any way you like.

When we heard about that bozo kicking the bucket at work; the store resounded with clapping. Of course, there was one poor dear who was upset by this.

"I can't believe you all think this is something good! Someone died, for god's sake!"

Heard in repy:

"One less pedophile in the world. Why isn't that something to cheer?"

iowanic
I think we're up to all seven of us, Grace.

If you're still keeping count.

I'm not convinced he was a pedophile but he was a disturbed man.

I'm not entirely convinced he was a pederast (hey, if you're going to toss accusations around get the terms right) either.

But though I'm only an armchair pyshcoligist, arrested development (AKA Peter Pan syndrome ~ Neverland irony anyone) seems likely.

No joke, nice to see you. I was wondering where you were. How's the family?

Brother's on the upswing; he's heading back to work Monday.

Well, at one time I had some respect for your taste in music...

Seriously though, I was going to apologize but then you just insist on proselytizing. What the hell...I'll apologize anyway. I'm sorry if I caused you personal distress. I guess I really don't understand the possibility of someone feeling bereaved because of the death of an entertainer. This is nothing new either. A like scenario played out years ago when John Lennon was shot. One of my best friends was wailing and moaning about it and I was like, "Big fuckin' deal." I wasn't glad he was shot, but I didn't know him personally, I had no real interest in him or his music and I absolutely despised his politics. My friend got quite pissed, but I guess the long and short of it is if I don't like someone when he's alive, I don't like him any better when he's dead. Obviously, that isn't everyone's attitude. This media circus has brought all the usual suspects out of the woodwork and I know damn well that a good portion of them didn't give two shits about MJ, but are slobbering to get their own mugs in front of any handy camera. I'm not including you in that. As I said, if I truly caused you personal distress, I'm very sorry.

But I still don't get it.

Thank you, RF. I can't explain it though cause I don't get it either. I just know it's real and I've shed plenty of tears since his unfortunate demise.
