I went with my wife to her families thanksgiving get together today. He brother and sister in law have a 4 year old son that they adopted ( he is actuslly their cousin but thats an entirely different story) His name is ALEX and he is NUTS over hunting from watching hunting shows with his grandpa on TV.. His dad asked him the other day what his favorite animal was and he said it was a deer because you can shoot and eat them. His dad asked me today if I would teach him to hunt when he gets older and he heard his dad ask me so he immediately started with " I WANNA GO HUNTING I WANNA GO HUNTING" There is a nice sized woods right behind the house we were at with corn stubble on one side and bean stubble on the other. I told him to get his boots on and grab his gun( squirt gun) and we would go look for a deer. My neice and nephew ( 11 and 9) wanted to go also. I took em up the edge of an outcropping of trees then through the trees to the bean stubble. I found a couple of scrapes several rubs and lots of tracks. I showed em each one and explained what a scrape was and a rub and how they could tell the tracks and which direction they were headed.....I found a groundhog den and showed em that. On the way back I tossed a big rock over into the woods and they were dead sure that a buck was coming after em lol....The coolest thing was when we got back the 4 year old explained to his dad what a rub was and why they did it....he told him what a scrape was and why they did it. The other 2 got that and they know what the rut is now........MAN I LOVE KIDS!
Mummsy & the Swabbers don't think you are such a great guy Steve. Bet Ante doesn't either. However I just know those little dumplings will never forget their Uncle Steve as a guy that walked the extra mile with them.
