Grace you know Ive never made it a secret that I spent most of my life raising game fowl.
So I hope that you take me serious with this.
I recently was investigating a child abuse situation. I was hired to watch someone and their spouse from afar. To see if they were getting un monitored access to children that has been removed from their home because of abuse.
Their neighbor raises dogs. Pit bulls. They look healthy etc. But he has also recently acquired game fowl. He obviously has never owned them and knows nothing about their care. He has them in small pens. Around 2x2 and about 2 ft high. No covering for shade. In a wide open yard. No shade. I have watched for six days now and there has not been water put in the pens as of yet. Im talking Im watching from 5am to around 9 pm from a house nearby. The guy isnt watering them when Im not looking because the homemade water bowls he made from the bottom of 3 litre bottles are blown all across the yard. Ive seen him walk by and toss a handful of shelled corn to them twice this whole time.
Most are drooping their heads. Some are barely able to stand and have pulled their head back as if chilled etc.
I went so far as to stop when I saw him in the yard and ask him what kind they were. I know all the common names etc. He was tickled someone asked. I then picked up a couple and they are skin and bones. I explained how long I had been around fowl and that Id gladly help him out if he was unable to care for them. He got pissed and I left.
I think they have only survived so far because of the grass that was in their pens. Now thats bare dirt
As of today, three are laying dead in the pens for the third day. He has about fifteen more
Ive called the Birmingham Alabama Humane society and Ive reported the issue twice. Nothing so far.
I know this jackass makes all people who appreciate fowl look bad. He is the measuring stick that good honest breeders are measured with. That pisses me off even more.
I want his ass in a sling over this. He doesnt deserve to own fowl.
I called the Bham office because they are over the area he lives in. He is in a small place called Minor. Right outside the Ensley/Bessemer area. He lives on Cherry St. Off McDonald Chapel Rd
If you know someone that could put some fire under these people and get someone out there to take those fowl this is one time I truly believe euthanasia is warranted. They are so poor I dont think theyll last the week. I dont think they can be brought back to health. I base this off my own 20 plus years owning and caring for hundreds of fowl a year.
Id ring their necks myself to end the suffering if I could
