I check in from time to time, but summer is a busy time. I was at the Calgary Stampede a couple days this week helping out at the Rarebreeds Canada booth by the light horse displays. The rare breeds on the days I was there were Shetland Pony, Exmoor Pony, Newfoundland Pony, Halflinger, and Lac La Croix Indian Pony (less than 100 remaining). Unfortunately, Stampede Committee doesn't allow Rare Breeds Canada to bring in anything other than the rare equines to educate the public about all the other domestic livestock breeds in danger of disappearing.
Rare breeds I want when we find our farm:
Canadienne cattle (vulnerable)
Lac La Croix Indian Pony (critically endangered)
American Saddlebred (critically endangered)
Canadian Horse (still listed as at risk)
Pilgrim Geese (critically endangered)
Chantecler chickens (only Canadian chicken breed, rare)
Large Black Pig (critical)
